Animal Welfare Federation of Connecticut
(http://www.awfct.org)

AWFCT is not a shelter or rescue organization, but its members include rescue and shelter professionals, animal control officers and veterinarians working collectively as a unified voice in support of animal welfare issues in Connecticut. The primary focus of the Federation is to create a statewide coalition that focuses on spay/neuter efforts. The Federation seeks to address the companion animal overpopulation problem by (1) promoting the humane treatment of animals and encouraging the enforcement of laws to protect them; (2) acting as a resource center by sharing and distributing information that promotes animal welfare; and (3) promoting educational programs that encourage responsible companion animal ownership.

BEFORE You Get Your Puppy
(http://www.jamesandkenneth.com/new_puppy.html)

James & Kenneth Publishers believes so strongly, that preventing the development of extremely common and utterly predictable puppy problems is the only way to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of millions of unwanted shelter dogs. In an attempt to educate prospective puppy owners before they get their puppies, they have convinced Dr. Ian Dunbar to offer his book "BEFORE You Get Your Puppy" for free.

Dogs Deserve Better
(http://www.dogsdeservebetter.com/home.html)

Dogs Deserve Better, 2003 First Place Winner of the ASPCA/Chase Pet Protector Award, is a voice for chained and penned dogs, whose sadness speaks only through the eyes. Chained by the neck, they exist without respect, love, exercise, social interaction, and sometimes even basic nourishment. They live as prisoners, yet long to be pets. Please consider today how you can help the dogs in your neighborhood. If you see a chained dog or a penned dog daily, it is time to take action. Please join Dogs Deserve Better today in taking a stand against this mistreatment of dogs.
